A Message of thanks, gratitude, and a pledge to service.
I can’t thank you all enough. Yesterday’s win was an effort that is still sinking in. I’m so honored you have helped me return to service for another term. All during this election cycle I have never taken my eyes off the fact that you have honored me to serve you, and our work in the legislature and our constituent service has gone on during it all. That is my pledge of service to you, the citizens of the 35th District in the North Carolina House of Representatives. I represent all of you, and I take that very seriously. Whether you voted for me, or not, if you have an issue that you may feel I can help you with my office door remains open now, as in the past. I need and want to continue to hear from you.
I heard you last night, when you overwhelmingly returned me to office for my third term. You told me that looking out for the best interests of HD 35 is my number one priority. You told me that our way to economic prosperity and freedom for all is the way forward. You told me that our message of positive accomplishments for all is what you value and appreciate in your elected officials. You told me that a smaller, more responsive and limited State government is what works for you. You told me that you want me to look out for you. You told me that you want me to continue working for positive changes in our state’s energy needs. You told me that you want me to help those who need it .You told me that continued job growth and expansion of economic opportunities for all is the best way to address issues of poverty. You told me that delivering government services in effective and efficient ways is what you expect from your State Representative. I have heard you and I will bring those messages to my colleagues here at the General Assembly.
My thanks go to the volunteers, the supporters, and the generous donors to our campaign. My thanks go to the people on the ground that helped share our accomplishments with the folks in the district. My thanks go to the countless neighbors and friends who came out to vote for me. This was not a campaign about me, but about what the voters and citizens in the district believe should be the role of government in their lives. I will continue to serve and do my best to reflect the views of the citizens in our district.
What an amazing journey this campaign has been. I look forward to starting fresh in January of 2017 to continue North Carolina’s march towards prosperity, safety, and security for all.
