Since 2011, teacher compensation in North Carolina has increased over twice as fast as compensation for all other workers in the economy.
Today, the average North Carolina teacher earns $60,000 in salary and benefits. That’s a 24% increase since 2010 when the conservative majority was elected in the Legislature.
But all workers in the economy have only seen a 10% raise in compensation over the same time, less than half of what teachers got.
And the media still peddles the notion conservatives are bad for teachers. Then facts rarely get in the way of a liberal editorial writer on a mission.
